Having wildlife visiting your home might be unusual for some people, but not for this lady. That is until one unusual visitor drummed up a friendship with her cat!
London resident Jennifer Rutter is used to having local wildlife frequent her home. Some people might perhaps get frightened if a wild animal shows up on their doorstep but not Jennifer, she loves to see her animal neighbors pass on by.
But one animal stands out from the others just a little bit more. Since February, Jennifer has been regularly visited by a local fox. He is definitely not a pet, though he seems to enjoy hanging out near her home.
His favorite spot is her garden, a place where he lies down and soaks up the sun.
Sometimes he sits on her window ledge until he feels it’s time to move on. No one in the neighborhood seems to consider him a threat, even the local kids keep an eye out for the slinky little fox.
Jennifer loves her four-footed visitor, according to her he is very sweet-natured and ever so polite.
He has adapted to living in suburbia, learning to co-exist with his human neighbors, only moving out of the way to let people pass on the pavement.
THE FOX HAS ALSO BROUGHT JENNIFER A LOT OF PRESENTS EVER SINCE IT INHABITED HER GARDEN. TREATS LIKE CHICKEN DRUMSTICKS, A TOY CAR, SAUSAGE, AND BREAD.
THE GENTLE NEIGHBORHOOD FOX IS ABOUT TO MEET A NEW FRIEND IN THE FORM OF JENNIFER’S CAT!
THE FIRST INTERACTION
As far as Jennifer knows, no one has actually made contact with this fox. That is until Jennifer’s cat, Dodo, decided to say hi to their frequent visitor. Dodo and Jennifer were just sitting in her home office when she noticed the fox pass by her window to do its daily sunbathing routine. Jennifer pointed the fox to Dodo and the tiny, little kitten jumped up from Jennifer’s knee and immediately went to the window to say hi to the fox.
She was so moved by this moment between Dodo and the fox that Jennifer started to record. Dodo was pawing at the window as if to wave to the fox and the wild animal followed suit. They were observing and mimicking each other’s movements. It was adorable! The fox moved along the ledge and Dodo followed along until the fox decided to get out of the garden. The whole time, Dodo was standing up watching her new friend leave.

There are thought to be around 10,000 urban foxes in London today. Though shy animals they have learned to co-exist with human beings. It is relatively common to see a fox wandering nonchalantly through your neighborhood.
Jennifers fox’s neighborhood buddy is one of many that roams her local area. But what makes him special is his friendship with Jennifer and Dodo.
