THIS IS ONE OF MANY SENSELESS ACTS OF ANIMAL CRUELTY THAT NEEDS TO BE STOPPED RIGHT NOW!

I could not believe this was real when I first heard about it!? Tying a defenseless dog onto the back of a bull and riding it until both animals are dead!? How can this be real? Two innocent defenseless creatures dying for human entertainment. Apparently, this ceremonial brutality is held every year and dedicated to the Virgin Mary, called the Virgen de la Asuncion.

Speaking on local television a villager identified only as Alfeo said: “We pick a dog that was disobedient over the past 12 months and has caused trouble. As a community, we see this as a fitting punishment for the dog’s bad behavior. This custom has nothing to do with the Virgin Mary, and in my view is completely barbaric, not to mention completely inhumane.

A video has been released showing sick footage of the act in practice, this video has now gone viral. The dog can be heard yelping and barking as it is lashed tight to the bull’s back. The video then shows the bull charging and jumping into the ring while the dog is tied to its back. Please do not watch this video if you are sensitive in any way, as it is very graphic!

A Petition Letter Was Sent To The President Of Peru:

In the village of Chalhuani, near the city of Abancay in the Apurimac region of central Peru, local residents tie a dog on the back of a bull during Virgen de la Asuncion. Then, they are released into a bullfight, where both will be killed.
My goal is to stop this custom from continuing. Please sign the petition to ask the President of Peru to ban this terrible practice. Let’s show them that this tradition is causing an international outcry that they cannot ignore!
My connection to the cause is that myself and others find this totally barbaric and inhumane to both the dog and the bull. Bullfighting is already grotesque and cruel, but adding a terrified dog to the slaughter is simply horrifying.
En la localidad de Chalhuani, cerca de la ciudad de Abancay, en la región de Apurimac, en el centro del Perú, los residentes locales atan un perro en la espalda de un toro durante la Virgen de la Asunción. Luego, son liberados en una corrida de toros, donde ambos serán asesinados. Mi meta es detener esta costumbre de continuar.
