She Still Has A Habit, A Dog’s Habit That Will Break Your Heart!

She shared a special bond with her friend, a strong bond that she can’t break, a dog’s habit she can’t let go of!

Dogs are loyal, of that, there is no doubt, loyal to a fault, even when there is no longer a reason to be loyal. This is true of Cookie, a yellow lab who shared an extremely close bond with her friend Stich, another yellow Labrador.

Both dogs shared their life with Easton Dufur, an actor and filmmaker who both dogs adored.

Recently Easton shared a post on Twitter, a post so touching it went viral, this post provoked all sorts of emotional responses. In fact, it had many people reaching for their tissues. It turns out that both dogs ate their food from the same bowl, catching on quickly to this Stitch had trained Cookie to leave half her food, so Stitch could eat the rest. Cookie quickly got the message, and ever since she was a puppy she left half her meal for Stitch.

The bond was so strong it overcame their instincts and allowed them to share food.

What’s so sad now is that Stitch has passed away, Cookie has lost her friend, and for the first time, she has no one to share her meals with. Recently Easton noticed something that broke his heart.

Since Stitch was gone he had been feeding Cookie less, she should, in theory, be able to eat every last bite. However, she refuses to empty the bowl, leaving half her meal for her buddy.

“Well before I went to bed, I wanted to check to see if [Cookie] ate. And so I did, and she still left half of her food there so Stitch can eat,” Easton wrote.

Whether it was out of habit, or Cookie still had hope that her brother Stitch would be coming back to share her food, this is pretty heart-breaking and heart-warming all at once! Dogs are so smart and loving, and this story just goes to show how loyal they really are.
