The very day she was dropped off at the animal shelter she disappeared?
Ginger the German Shepherd was dropped off at the Apple Valley Animal Shelter, California, by her owner. Not because he no longer wanted his dog, but because he had lost his home and didn’t think it was fair for his dog to be living out of a car.
Ginger, however, had other plans, and those plans did not include staying in a shelter to be adopted by someone else. The very day her owner dropped Ginger off, that evening alarms went off, and Ginger was nowhere to be found?
At first, understandably staff had thought someone had broken in and stolen her, but when reviewing surveillance footage it revealed that Ginger had broken out!
Security cameras revealed the homesick canine had not just opened one door in her bid for freedom, but three!
She was found a few days later where she used to live before her owner had lost his home and becoming homeless.
Shelter workers want to share Ginger’s story in a plea to find the super-smart dog a home and a job. They believe that the German Shepherd is an excellent candidate to be trained for an important job as she’s obviously got a lot of intelligence and natural deductive abilities.
“We would love someone who works with German shepherds to adopt her and train her for an important job,” Gina Whiteside, director of animal services at the shelter, told ABC News. “She is brilliant.”
