This Dogs Tiny Space Was His Entire World!

Most dogs take running outside, playing and being free for granted. And so they should too, it is part of the daily lives. But not for some dogs!

One German Sheperd called Hershel spent the first five years of his life chained up, locked in a cage. This dogs tiny space was his entire world, all he had ever known.

He always saw what the outside world could offer, but could never venture beyond the wire that surrounded him, his owners took no interest, they had essentially thrown away the key. For a big dog like Hershel it was especially tough, he literally almost had no room to move.

Finally, some kind-hearted soul told animal rescuers of Hershel’s harsh living conditions and they swung into action, moving him into a shelter. He now had more room to move but he was practically bouncing off the shelter walls! No one wanted a dog with seemingly endless amounts of energy!

Finally, a nonprofit group called Save Our Shelter stepped in.

After hearing of Hershel’s unfortunate upbringing, the group arranged for the dog’s first beach outing. After being locked in a cage for five years, the dog expressed unimaginable glee upon seeing the ocean for the first time.

Hershel was also shown around other awe-inspiring locales to compensate for those wasted years he spent locked in a metal box.

“Herschel was able to see the snow for the first time, and he also got to give free teddy bear hugs,” the organization wrote. “As a matter of fact, that day got him enough awareness that now, we’re going on a little road trip to deliver him to his forever home.”
