He Sits At The Door Waiting Hopefully For Someone Who Will Never Return!

He sits at the door, waiting hopefully for someone who was kind to him, waiting for someone who will never return.

For over two weeks, he’s been waiting! A stray dog, known as Buboy is waiting outside a door at the faculty office of Mabalacat City College, Pampanga, Philippines.

Sometimes he paws at the door, hoping his friend will hear him, but no one comes. His friend used to come out and feed him, pat him, and pay him some loving attention.

This daily ritual is not easy to watch for the staff and students of the college. Because they know Buboy’s friend is never going to return.

His friend was Professor Carmelito Marcelo, he had fed and generally looked after Buboy for over 4 consecutive years. He passed away after spending two weeks in the hospital. The cause of death was a stroke.

Kristina Demafelix, a colleague of Marcelo said Buboy followed him everywhere. Waiting for him at the school gate every morning, then following him from class to class.

They even had lunch together, then Buboy would see him off at the gate at the end of the school day. Even when he didn’t have classes he would come to see his dog.

Demafelix first noticed the dog hanging around the faculty office while the professor was in the hospital. But when Buboy continued to wait, Demafelix decided to help the stressed animal find closure.

“You can’t express all the pain because you don’t know what happened,” Demafelix wrote on Facebook. “Suddenly he didn’t go to school but still you are waiting outside the faculty [room] where you are always waiting for him, you are always waiting for his arrival.”

Demafelix brought Buboy to Marcelo’s wake on Tuesday, to help the dog say a final goodbye to his beloved friend.

Buboy paid his respects, gazing at his friend lying in the coffin. But when it came time to leave, the dog refused to budge. “Buboy doesn’t want to let go of the coffin of sir Marcelo,” Demafelix wrote online.

Now that the professor is gone, members of the faculty and staff are coming together to care for Buboy collectively. “All of the school’s concerned about Buboy,” Demafelix wrote on Facebook, “and the school is the one who became his home.”
