He Was Driving To Work When He Saw A Dog Get Struck By A Vehicle
He saw a tiny dog struck by a car, he swerved over and blocked oncoming traffic to try and save its life!
A police officer was on his way to work in Pinellas Park last Thursday when he saw a small dog hit by a car.
On the Interstate 275 near 38th Ave, North Joseph Puglia’s dash camera shows him pulling to a stop mere seconds after the incident.
Placing his car to block oncoming traffic and prevent further injury he wraps the injured dog in an emergency blanket and takes him back to his SUV and calls dispatch. He then rushes the injured canine to Penells Animal Hospital.
“Without hesitation, Ofc. Puglia swerved over to block the dog from traffic,” the agency wrote on Facebook.
The dog survived with minor cuts and bruises.
“After some medical examinations, the dog is expected to make a full recovery. The owner has not yet been located due to the dog not having a microchip or tag,” police said.
Puglia says they nicknamed the dog, who ended up in the county’s animal shelter, Lucky. If no one claims Lucky, he says family members are ready to take him.
