They Pulled Him Out Just In Time!

Buried alive, bleeding from just about every inch of her body rescuers had got to an abused puppy in the nick of time!

Leialoha, as she was later to be named had just been buried beneath the sand by her then owner while she was still alive. Rescuers had pulled the abused puppy out barely in time, most of her fur was missing and she was very dehydrated too.

The rescuers from Paws of Hawaii had bravely pulled her from the sand, saving her from a man welding a machete on a Hawaiian beach. It was clear the poor pup had been the victim of abuse.

It’s hard to believe, but her owner is unlikely to face charges for what he has done. Laws in Hawaii require irrefutable proof or evidence before any sort of investigation can take place.

You pretty much need a video or a series of pictures of some sort before enforcement can occur. A few photos and a written report are just not going to do it.

Her owner actually believed it was better to end her suffering by ending her life in this manner! Instead of trying to get her help in the form of medical attention burying a living puppy in the sand was he believed a better option.

The “poor girl was bleeding from every inch of her body,” PAWS of Hawaii wrote on Facebook.

It’s hard to fathom why someone would act with such cruelty. Ku’ulei Durand, Executive Director of PAWS of Hawaii, explained that Leialoha’s owner couldn’t handle the dog’s ailments.

Although Leialoha has a long way to go before she recovers fully from the abuse, her health conditions are improving. Rescuers brought the suffering canine to Aloha Affordable Veterinarian Services where she was given proper medical treatment.

Meanwhile, PAWS of Hawaii raised enough money to cover her medical expenses while gifting the pooch with love and hamburgers.

Amanda, who fosters dogs for PAWS of Hawaii, was touched when she heard Leialoha’s story.

“My heart was broken and I knew she needed us to foster her,” Amanda wrote in a Facebook update. “Leialoha has come so far since Tuesday night.”

Despite the horrors that Leialoha endured in her past, her future seems bright. According to Amanda’s update published by PAWS of Hawaii, the dog is still timid but is starting to come out of her shell. After a few months of healing, the pooch will have the opportunity to go to a loving home.

“She has a long way to go, but the worst is over,” Amanda wrote.

However, PAWS of Hawaii hopes Leialoha’s story will inspire others to open their hearts and homes to abused animals.
