He Can’t See With His Eyes But There Is More Than One Way To See!

Taken into a shelter over a year ago in the hopes of finding him a home, he still waits. All because he has no eyes!

He’s a lovely dog and a real staff favorite, so why has he been waiting over a year to be adopted in an East Hampton animal shelter in New York? Papito, a Chihuahua mix was born in Puerto Rico, although he has no eyes he more than makes up for his lack of site with his huge heart.

Staff at the shelter describe him as a lover, but to date, no one has stepped up to offer Papito a home.

It was way back in July 2018 that staff at the Animal Rescue Fund posted this:

Born blind, Papito was found scared and frightened. We took him in with the hope of finding him a home with people to love him. Sadly, he is still with us. And though he has become a staff favorite, a shelter is no place for any dog, but especially so for a blind dog. Blind dogs may not be able to see with their eyes, but they can see with their hearts.

A part of his biography goes like this:

Three year old Papito is a Chihuahua mix who sadly is blind due a congenital abnormality. He is nothing but love. He loves his toys and his people and other dogs. We are seeking a quiet, loving, adult-only home for this very special and very sweet young man. You must go slow with Papito as he startles easily. He is very loving and would love a family to love him right back.

Will you please take a moment to help this loving boy find a family who can see past his disability? Papito needs a forever home – soon!

His owner left him on the side of the road and said stay. And that is exactly what he did for seven straight days.
