An Australian Dog Comes Home With Something Strange Clinging To Her Back?

Their dog had gone out for an early morning stroll, only to come home for breakfast with something strange clinging to her back.

Kerry Mckinnon was still in bed when her husband called out to her to come downstairs. When she saw what it was she was called out of bed for she burst into laughter, a baby Koala was snuggled into the warmth of her dog’s back.

The wee marsupial was clinging on tightly to her Golden Retriever, Asha’s back, while the poor dog looked up at her owners in complete confusion.

Kerry thinks the koala was trying to find somewhere warm and found just that in the form of her dog. Temperatures can fall down to 5c at night in Victoria, Australia. This little marsupial may not have survived if not for their dog Asha.

“I just burst out laughing. Poor Asha didn’t know what to think, she just kept looking at me with such a confused look,” McKinnon told Metro UK.

The McKinnons wrapped the joey in a blanket and took it to a vet, but not without a bit of protest. McKinnon says the koala hissed and didn’t want to leave Asha’s back. The koala is now with a wildlife rehabilitator and will be cared for until it can be released back into the wild.
